Woon-werkwoning Hobbesteeg

Hobbesteeg 4, 1941 CB, Beverwijk

Project

From cheese-store to live-and-work-homes

A simple store in Beverwijk surrounded on three sides by buildings. Only through the façade daylight entered through a small window and front door. That building had to be transformed into a flexible living-working home. The front house was maintained and renovated. At the rear, a timber-framed rear house was added, including a roof terrace. Between the front and back house a light court was realized so that not only light but also air enters.

Thanks to a very efficient plan and the self-activity of the client, it was possible to realize a very special living-working house in the heart of Beverwijk for a relatively modest budget. In addition to the development of the plan and the environmental permit application, the client was also advised on the realisation under its own management.
